对话摘要:

For over a quarter of a century, our world has been described as "VUCA"—-characterized by Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity. Originally emerging in the late 1990s, the concept reflected the post-Cold War shift away from a simple East-West geopolitical structure. Since the 2010s, "VUCA" has become widely used in organizational management, human resource development, and education.

In the field of career guidance and career education, where the guest speaker Prof. Fujita specializes, some argue that in such an unpredictable world, traditional career planning has lost its relevance. At the same time, concerns about technological singularity—the idea that artificial intelligence and robotics might surpass human capabilities—-have fueled anxiety, particularly among young people. In some East Asian countries, especially in Japan, a growing number of young individuals feel uncertain or even pessimistic about their futures.

In this talk, Prof. Fujita will explore how we can effectively support the career development of children and youth in an era of rapid change, focusing on five key perspectives:

1. The VUCA World is Not New: The forces of uncertainty have shaped societies for at least 200 years.

2. Technological Innovation Creates Opportunities: History shows that new technologies generate new jobs rather than eliminate them.

3. Humans Will Not Be Subordinated to Machines: Even if technological singularity occurs, human agency will remain central.

4. The Importance of a Human-Centric Approach in Society 5.0: A forward-thinking strategy that emphasizes human well-being is essential.

5. Key Career Competencies for the Future: Developing adaptive and creative skills is crucial for navigating an evolving professional landscape.

Through this discussion, Prof. Fujita will invite participants to rethink career development strategies and explore how we can empower young people to embrace the future with confidence and resilience.
