On the morning of April 25th, the first “Shadow Principal’s A-thousand-school Alliance Conference” was successfully held in the lecture hall of Yifu Building. The representatives from the first group of Shadow Principal ‘s A-thousand-school League Conference” from 118 basic schools across the country, Dai Liyi, the vice president of East China Normal University, Yuan Zhenguo, the dean of the Faculty of Education, Wang Haiping, the general secretary of the Party Committee of the Faculty of Education, Liang Hongliang, the deputy secretary of Youth League Committee of the East China Normal University, Dai Ruihua, the deputy dean of the Faculty of Education, Shen Ye, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Faculty of Education, and Yang Guangfu, the director of the Student Affairs Division of the Faculty of Education, and other related leaders and student representatives of the past “shadow principals” attended the conference. The meeting was presided over by Shen Ye.
The conference has adhered to the concept of “Cultivating the Future Leaders in Education” and aims to establish a “Shadow Principal’s A-thousand-school Alliance” with various types of schools to further intensify personnel training reforms, and contribute to the cultivating of the future education leaders with integration of studying and application, unity of knowledge and practice advanced concepts and take their responsibility.

Subsequently, Professor Yuan Zhenguo and Wang Haiping issued the instructor appointment letters to the representatives of the first batch of “Shadow Principal’s A-thousand-school Alliance” and appointed the principals with rich practical experience and a solid theoretical foundation in the field of basic education as the instructors of the “Shadow Principal” training program.

In the sharing session, Lou Yanguo, the principal of Shijiazhuang No. 1 Middle School, gave a speech as a representative of the instructors. Wang Zichun, a member of the first “shadow principal” group and Chen Shiqi, a member of the fourth “shadow principal” group, spoke as the representatives. They used real stories to describe the bit of insight in practice.

The conference declared the establishment of “Shadow Principal’s A-thousand-school Alliance”, which aims to further promote the talent cultivation model focusing on “Shadow Principal”, while the “Five One Hundred” mutual-supporting practice education mode is the innovative talent-training mode of the Faculty of Education and a beneficial attempt for cultivating the future education of leaders. The Faculty of Education organizes 100 students each year as the “shadow principals” to grassroots schools, which lets them learn from the outstanding principals. They participate in all kinds of school meetings such as: solving the school problems, teaching and research activities, and guiding students in thematic classes, community activities, and research, guiding students in theme class meetings, club activities and research learning, investigate and study the problems existing in school work, enhance their sense of mission and responsibility in promoting and leading education reforms in practice and improve their educational research capabilities, educational practice capabilities and education leadership capabilities. Up to now, the Faculty of Education has organized four batches of “shadow principals” and one batch of “one-day shadow principals”. This talent cultivation model has been highly affirmed by the alliance schools, and it has also received media coverage from CCTV, Shanghai Education Television, China Education News, Wen Wei Po, Youth Daily, and so on, which has caused widespread social influence.
